  2. If your home address is within a 30-mile radius of the University City Campus, you may apply for accommodation, but it will not be guaranteed.
  3. If you are due to be studying an Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme, you must have applied for your accommodation by the deadline specified on the University’s website, and this must be verified by the University.
  4. If you enter your programme through Clearing, accommodation will be allocated subject to availability and a separate deadline for accommodation applications will apply. This deadline will be communicated as part of the application process and/or on the University website.
  5. All applications for accommodation must be made online.
  6. The academic year in which you commence your programme must be your first year of study at the University. If you are in the first year of your programme but this is not your first year at the University you will not be eligible for the AGO.

General

  1. Specific deadlines for the AGO are published on the University’s website annually and form part of these terms and conditions by reference.
  2. You accept that all correspondence in respect of the AGO will normally be through email through the email address that you have supplied in your application.
  3. The AGO applies only in respect of accommodation within the University’s existing portfolio or accommodation arranged by the University through partner organisations for occupancy in the applicable academic year.
  4. The AGO does not extend to accommodation arranged independently by you, such as private rentals, council housing, hotels, hostels or any other third-party arrangements outside the University’s offerings.
  5. If you are applying through Clearing, accommodation will be offered subject to availability at the time of your application.
  6. All University or University arranged accommodation under the AGO is subject to availability.
  7. The AGO covers you as an individual applicant only. The University cannot accommodate dependants under this AGO.
  8. A ‘dependant’ is a spouse, civil partner, child or parent of the student, or a person living in a single household with the student (excluding tenants, lodgers, boarders and employees).
  9.  A ‘single household’ is formed by a family; single person; and employer and certain domestic employees (who provide a service and do not pay rent / other consideration); a carer and the person receiving the care; and a foster parent /foster child.
  10. ‘family’ comprises a couple (whether married, and including same sex couples), a parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child, grandchild or stepchild, cousin, niece or nephew or aunt or uncle. Half-relationship is treated as a relationship of full blood.
  11. The AGO is a one-off offer and whilst every effort will be made to provide you with accommodation that is appropriate, all accommodation under the AGO is subject to availability and therefore no guarantee is given that the accommodation will be your preferred choice. No alternative offer of accommodation is guaranteed if the AGO is refused.
  12. The AGO will normally be open for acceptance within 7 days of issue and the University will be under no obligation to provide accommodation if you do not provide your acceptance within the 7 days of the date of the AGO. Acceptance of the AGO will include, but is not limited to, the payment by you of any advanced rental applicable from time to time.
  13. If you have any special needs related to disability, please notify the University’s Disability Services so that we can consider any reasonable adjustments with you at the date of application. If you have supporting evidence, please provide this to the University as soon as possible.
  14. The AGO only applies to relevant students at the University. Accordingly, if your application is withdrawn or offer terminated, so will the AGO.
  15. The University may seek further supporting evidence from you prior to issuing an AGO or offer of accommodation and you should provide such evidence in a timely manner. Otherwise, the AGO could be withdrawn.
  16. The University reserves the right to withdraw or not issue accommodation offers, including the AGO, subject to applicable law and regulations.
  17. By accepting an AGO, you acknowledge that to gain access to the accommodation you will require to be bound by the University’s standard Occupancy Agreement and the terms and conditions in relation thereto (see Accommodation: important Information).
  18. If you do not meet any of these terms and conditions, the AGO will not apply.
  19. All accommodation is subject to availability and whilst every effort will be made by the University to provide accommodation under the AGO, the University shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its obligations in respect of the AGO if such delay or failure results from events, circumstances or causes beyond its reasonable control.
