Aspire e-Training accessibility statement
How the University of Dundee ensures it’s Aspire e-Training service is accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018
Updated on 24 April 2025
The University of Dundee is committed to making its Aspire e-Training website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to the Aspire e-Training website which is provided by a third-party supplier (Aspire Business Software Ltd) and which is run by the University of Dundee. This means some aspects of accessibility are outwith the University’s immediate control.
The University of Dundee want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings.
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software.
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability. You may also wish to browse the various free add-ons which are available via browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The University of Dundee is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance(s) and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):
Disproportionate burden
The following has been classed as disproportionate burdens to fix in the current version of e‐Training:
- Some pages may not be functional or may be difficult to read at a zoom level of 200%. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.4 [AA].
- Pages will not reflow into a single column. Some pages may require scrolling at a zoom level of 400%. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.10 [AA].
- Some images might not have a contrast of at least 3:1. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 [AA]
- Some pages may not be readable or functional when changes are made to paragraph spacing, font size or line height. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.12 [AA]
- The menu is the only way to navigate the site. There is no alternative way to find pages. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.5 [AA]
- Some pages might not have sufficient headings. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.6 [AA]
- Some elements might be inconsistently labelled. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.2.4 [AA]
Our third‐party supplier has assessed the cost of fixing the above issues and believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. This is because the above issues have already been resolved in a new version which is currently in development but not yet ready for release. (Release Date to be confirmed.) It would be a disproportionate burden to repeat these changes in the current version as they will be resolved upon release of the new version.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility

A new version of the e-Training provision is currently in development which will see it fully compliant with the Accessibility regulations. This includes a full redesign and new framework to enhance accessibility throughout the site. (Release Date to be confirmed.)
