Global Citizenship Scholarship 2025/26 (the “Scholarship”)

The key facts set out the main details of the Scholarship as of the publication date.

The key facts should be reviewed alongside our scholarship and bursary terms and conditions.

They provide you with additional information that applies to you to the scholarship.

If there is any inconsistency between this Key Facts Document and the University of Dundee Scholarship and Bursary Terms and Conditions, the provisions of the Scholarship and Bursary Terms and Conditions will prevail.

Application process

Application form

  • Eligible applicants must submit an application for the Global Citizenship Scholarship, using the University of Dundee application link via the University’s Scholarship webpage.
  • The application form is a personal statement, of no more than 350 words.
  • All applications are reviewed by a panel of University staff and selection is based on the quality of the personal statement. Only applications which pass the eligibility criteria will be reviewed. All other applications will be rejected, and the applicant notified.
  • All decisions are communicated with you whether successful or unsuccessful.

Who is eligible

You must:

  1. Hold an offer to study an eligible Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught course at the University of Dundee:
    • Undergraduate – hold an offer for a full time, on campus programme of study. This excludes any programme in the School of Medicine or School of Dentistry.
      Please note the programme must be 120 credits.
    • Postgraduate Taught – hold an offer for a full time, on campus programme of study in any academic school.
      Please note the programme must be 180 credits, apart from PGDip in Professional Legal Practice.
    • Master of Research and Masters by Research Courses are covered by this Scholarship.
  2. Be classified as an International Fee-paying student by the University of Dundee.
  3. Be starting your course in September 2025 or January 2026.
  4. Not be studying a PGCert or PhD Course.
  5. Have a course tuition fee of £21,600. Any programme which does not have a fee of this value, or above, will not be considered for this Scholarship. 
  6. International College Dundee applicants are also eligible for this Scholarship. The Scholarship will be applied upon your entrant year to the University of Dundee.
  7. If you have been made an offer related to a Partnership with the UoD, you may be offered partnership scholarship. 
    Partnership Agreements students are entitled to either a partnership discount or a UoD Open Scholarship.

Award information

  1. The value of this Scholarship is £4,000 and is awarded as a tuition fee waiver. No direct payment is made to you.
  2. The Scholarship is paid in each year of applicable study:
    1. Undergraduate applicants can receive the Scholarship for up to 5 years of progressing study. (£20,000 over 5 years).
    2. Where the course is a 3.5-year Undergraduate Degree (School of Business) then the Scholarship will be applied in Year 2 onwards.
    3. For Postgraduate Taught applicants (including Master of Research and Masters by Research) where the course spans more than 12 months full time, and a full year tuition fee is due in each academic year, the Scholarship can be applied in both years of study.
  3. Scholarships are awarded on an Unconditional basis. However, this is not linked to your application to study status.
  4. Scholarships cannot be awarded on a pro-rata basis.

Key information

  1. Our Global citizenship scholarship recognizes applicants who strongly align with the University of Dundee's values of:

  2. This Scholarship is applicable in the entry year to the University of Dundee only (September 2025 or January 2026 intake) and cannot be backdated to previous years.  
  3. The University will not offer the Scholarship to students who have matriculated at the University in their chosen programme of study.
  4. If you have applied for a Part Time or Distance Learning programme, you are not eligible for this Scholarship.
  5. You are unable to combine the Global Citizenship Scholarship with any other University of Dundee Scholarship, except for the University of Dudee Alumni and Discover Sciences Scholarship (Undergraduate only).
  6. If you are eligible for more than one scholarship, they can be combined to a maximum of £7,000.
  7. If you have an externally funded scholarship that covers part of your University of Dundee tuition fee, this can be awarded alongside one or more University of Dundee scholarships (provided that the total of the awards combined does not exceed the total University of Dundee tuition fee).
  8. If you have a fully funded external scholarship, the Global Citizenship Scholarship will be removed as all tuition fees will be covered. The University will not provide the Global Citizenship Scholarship as an additional award.
  9. Should you wish to defer your entry to the University of Dundee, the following rule applies:
    • Deferral within the same academic year: Scholarship can be deferred.
    • Deferral to a new academic year: Scholarship cannot be deferred.
  10. International College Dundee applicants are eligible to receive this Scholarship in the entry year to the main degree at the University of Dundee.
  11. Changes to your programme of study: 
    1. If you change programme before/during matriculation or after latest start date (30.09.2025), the University of Dundee reserves the right to reassess eligibility for scholarships and may withdraw the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.  
    2. If your Fee status or any other personal information changes before, during or after matriculation, the University of Dundee reserves the right to re-assess eligibility for scholarships and may withdraw the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed. 
  12. If you have paid your tuition fees in full prior to being awarded the Global Citizenship Scholarship, the value of the scholarship will be refunded to you after enrolment at the University of Dundee. Alternatively, this can be transferred to your University accommodation account balance (if applicable).
  13. The Scholarship is only paid to you in the years in which full tuition fees are paid. This applies to those who may study abroad during their Undergraduate studies.
  14. We will notify you of any scholarship updates via the applicant portal. We may also use any email address you provide us with to communicate with you. Types of communication may be:
    • Confirming the Scholarship.
    • Informing you that you have not met the criteria to be awarded the Scholarship.
    • Requesting further information.
  15. We are unable to disclose details of the Scholarship to anyone other than you unless you provide us with your consent to do so. 
  16. Should you withdraw from your programme of study, the University may be in contact regarding payment of fees and scholarship balance.
  17. All scholarship decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
