Poetry Contest -Terms and Conditions

Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals aged 16+ at the time of entry. Entries must be original works of poetry written in English and must not have been previously published or submitted to other contests. Entrants must be attending High School in the United States of America.
Entry guidelines
- Each entrant may submit only one poem.
- Poems must be no longer than one page or 500 words.
- Submissions must be sent via the official University of Dundee submission webpage.
- The entrant’s name should not appear on the poem itself to ensure impartial judging.
- The contest is only open to current High School students in the United States.
Judging and criteria
Entries will be judged anonymously by a panel appointed by the University of Dundee.
The panel will evaluate submissions based solely on literary merit, use of language, originality, imagination and creativity.
The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.
Prizes
A cash-equivalent voucher prize will be awarded to the winning entry.
Details of the prize (type of voucher and value) will be made clear in contest promotional material.
The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative is available.
Purpose and independence
The poetry contest is intended to celebrate and encourage literary talent.
Participation in the contest is entirely voluntary and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of, or incentive to apply to, the University of Dundee.
The awarding of the prize is not contingent upon applying to or enrolling in any University programme.
Copyright and publication
Copyright remains with the author. However, by entering the competition, entrants grant the University of Dundee non-exclusive rights to publish and promote the winning poem(s) in print, online, and in any promotional materials, with appropriate credit given to the author.
Data Protection
Personal information provided by entrants will be handled in accordance with the University of Dundee’s Data Protection Policy and used solely for the administration of the contest.
Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an entry, entrants confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.
