Add your qualifications to a Direct Application

These are the steps to complete when you are adding your qualifications to a Direct Application

Updated on 9 July 2025

A Direct Application is when you apply to a course through our website instead of going through an external application body like UCAS.

For specific information on applying to your course, see the course's How To Apply page.

When providing your qualifications, there are four areas that are required to be completed.

Highest level of qualification

You should review the full list of qualifications before selecting your own. The list of qualifications is not in any particular order.

When you start to enter your qualification search results will display

The most common qualifications held by those applying to postgraduate courses are:

  • Certificate at Masters level
  • Diploma at Masters level
  • EU Masters degree
  • MUK first degree with honours
  • Other Overseas qualification at first degree level
  • Other EU qualification at first degree level
  • Overseas Masters degree
  • UK ordinary (non-honours) first degree Lvl 5
  • UK Masters degree

If after reviewing the full list, if you cannot find a match or if you are unsure, please select other qualification level not known.

What is the last institution you attended?

Start typing your institution and select the correct one.

If your institution is not on the list, enter in “Other Institution”. You should then select Other Institution from the list.

Qualification records

To add a qualification, click on the Add Qualification button. All areas in this section are mandatory.

Institution / Schools / Colleges

This is a list of universities, colleges and schools. Start typing your establishment and select it from the list.

If your establishment is not there, enter in “Other_”. Select Other Institution from the list. Enter in the name of your establishment in the Other Institution / School / College Name box that will appear.

Type of Qualification

You will be presented with a dropdown menu with two options. You can select whether your qualification is an Academic Qualification or a Professional Qualification.

Qualification Name

This is the type of qualification such as Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree.

Start typing the name of your qualification and select the correct one.

If nothing appropriate comes up, please try another description. For some countries we commonly recruit from, we have specific entries for that country’s degrees, e.g. “Ghana Bachelor Degree”. If your qualification is not there, enter in “Other_”. Select from the list that appears. If Other Qualification or Exam is selected, you must enter the qualification name.

Subject Name

This is where you will enter the subject of your qualification. As this is a general list, a subject area should be chosen rather than a specialised area. For example, you would select Law rather than Commercial Law.

Completed?

This is where you can let us know whether you have completed and achieved the qualification. You have two options:

  • Yes - Enter the grade you achieved. You can either enter today’s date or a date in the past when you achieved the qualification
  • No - Enter in the Completion or  Expected Completion Date

Once completed click on the Save button

Upload Evidence

Click on the Upload button to upload your evidence. This usually consists of your transcript and degree certificate.

If you do not yet have these documents, they can be uploaded later.

Once completed, click on the Next button.
