Visiting student electives in Medicine

Come and join us in one of the UK's largest teaching hospitals, for an immersive learning experience as a visiting elective student

We can offer final year medical students a placement of 4-8 weeks between 1st May and 31st of August each year. There is a fee of £300 which is payable on return of an application form which will be sent to you if you are accepted to carry out a clinical elective placement.

  • Neurosciences (Neurology or Neurosurgery)

  • Renal Medicine
  • Rheumatology
  • Surgery - General
  • Urology

International students taking part in visiting electives, will need a Standard Visitor Visa in order to undertake an elective placement at Dundee.

Accommodation in the Nurses Residences of the hospital is available on request.

There is no formal teaching programme. You'll will join in all the clinical activities and participate in teaching rounds, watch surgical procedures, case conferences, meet patients and shadow consultants who are experts in their field. This is an opportunity to experience being part of a team in an internationally renowned teaching hospital.
