You will learn to develop your academic writing and reading to a postgraduate level. This will develop your understanding of what makes academic writing clear and accurate.
You will also further develop your skills and understanding by engaging in discussion and practical activities.
Each weekly seminars are organised around a key aspect of academic writing or academic skills. These include topics such as:
- how to write clear paragraphs
- plan a piece of writing
- to correctly reference the work of others in writing
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- develop the language and composition skills to complete your post-graduate programme
- gain a critical approach to reading texts
- appreciate the relationship between reading and writing
- develop effective note-taking strategies
By the end of the module you will be able to:
- produce written work using the recommended structure, referencing and language
- use reading strategies to analyse a range of text types
- take part in discussions around research methods
- present written work to a high standard
