You will learn about the history of architecture from the Renaissance period to the present day. You will develop and extend your manual and digital graphic communication skills. This will be done through the study of selected buildings.
You will attend a series of lectures covering the history of architecture from the Renaissance period to the present day. You will take part in a series of:
- short projects
- studio-based analytical drawing projects
These will be supported by workshops and tutorials. These are designed to develop core digital and manual drawing skills. This is done through the close study of architectural precedent. You will be taught how to make rendered drawings which communicate scale, material, detail and light.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- learn about the influence of culture, society and ideas on the development of architecture form. This will range from the renaissance to the present day
- understand the importance of scale, material and natural light as a generator of atmosphere in a given building
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- form and communicate considered judgements about the aesthetic, technical and social qualities of architectural design
- accurately document the qualitative aspects of an architectural space. You will be able to do this through the process of rendered drawing, using manual and digital techniques
- present and evaluate arguments, information and ideas
