Clinical Andrology is the branch of Reproductive Science focusing on male sexual health. Male infertility is increasingly common and is the main indication for assisted reproduction treatment (ART) in more than 50% of cases. A primary role of andrology is to perform tests on semen samples to determine the fertility potential of the individual. Research in this area has allowed for improved medically assisted reproduction (MAR) treatments, such as the development of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and improved freezing and storage of sperm.

It is key for all students and professionals working in assisted reproduction to have a good understanding of andrology and the associated laboratory practices. This module covers the laboratory aspects and clinical application of andrology.
