This module covers commonly encountered aspects of family law legal practice. You will focus on divorce procedure, contact and residence issues, and alternatives to litigation. The module also covers cohabitation, prenuptial agreements, civil partnerships, and protection against domestic abuse.
What you will learn
In this module you will:
- explore the key aspects of family law legal practice, including divorce procedures and contact and residence issues
- investigate non-litigation alternatives in family law
- examine cohabitation, prenuptial agreements, civil partnerships, and domestic abuse protection
- study financial provisions in divorce cases
- understand the concept of matrimonial property
- consider the significance of the child's perspective and how to deal effectively with Child Welfare Hearings
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- demonstrate a broad understanding of commonly encountered aspects of family law legal practice
- show a detailed understanding of divorce procedure and contact and residence matters
- demonstrate the skills required to draft initial writs in certain family law aspects
