This module will provide you with an introduction to foundational topics surrounding adult mental health. You will develop basic knowledge and critical thinking skills to evaluate theories and debates in the field of adult mental health. Sample topics include the following:
- An exploration of mental health difficulties, such as anxiety and mood disorders
- A critical understanding of classification and diagnostic perspectives
- Diversity, culture, and mental health
- Professional ethics
- Careers in mental health
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- learn about the history of mental health
- critically examine major areas of psychopathology
- learn to think critically regarding mental health research and develop a reflective, scientist-practitioner approach
By the end of this module, you will be able to:

- have familiarity with professional ethics and apply this knowledge in real world settings as ethical practice
