Peer Connections
Peer Connections is a welcoming, buddying, and mentoring scheme to help students settle in to university life.

Peer Connectors are trained student volunteers who provide support and information to new students.
How Peer Connectors can help
Peer Connectors understand the feelings, issues, and practicalities of being a student and can:
- be someone to talk to
- be a friendly face to show you around
- answer your questions (important or trivial) - as best they can
- listen to any worries you may have, for example if you are feeling homesick, disorientated, or just a bit low - many people feel like this
- help you with most things, but guide you to the people who can give you further help if required.
- give you ideas to make university life easier and help to make the best of your time at the University of Dundee
- respect your privacy and maintain confidentiality
Peer Connections Events
Peer Connections Events are opportunities for students to meet, and socialise with other students. They are informal drop in events. The Peer Connectors will be on hand to answer questions and introduce you to other students. It is a great way to find friends.

“Being a Peer Connector has been one of the highlights of my journey so far at the University. It has given me the opportunity to meet amazing people, support new students, and share what I’ve learnt along the way. It feels good to help others settle in, especially since I know how overwhelming it can be at first especially as an international student. What I love most about being a University of Dundee student is how welcoming and diverse the community is. You never really feel like you’re on your own here, there’s always someone to listen, help, or just have a chat. It’s a place that really cares about its students.”

“Being a University of Dundee student means being part of a genuinely warm and welcoming community. The support I’ve received from Student Services has made such a difference in my journey especially through the Peer Connections programme. Although I usually have a lecture during Crafty Connections, I’ve made time to attend other events and even made new friends like Anna and Abdullah, who are also Peer Connectors. These small but meaningful experiences have helped me feel at home, grow in confidence, and truly enjoy my time here. My favourite thing about being a student at the University of Dundee is how nice and helpful everyone is and of course, the student discounts are a lovely bonus too!”
