Biography
Professor Hing-Ho Tsang holds the Chair of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Dundee, following over 10 years of academic experience each in Australia and Hong Kong. He aims to develop frontier knowledge, innovative solutions and green technologies to enhance the sustainability of buildings and infrastructure and to improve the safety of people under earthquake, impact and extreme climate events. His research addresses various UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on resilient infrastructure and cities, circular economy, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and alleviation of poverty and inequality.
He has published over 200 articles in international journals and conference proceedings and is listed among the World’s Top 1% of Scientists for Career-long Impact in Civil Engineering (Elsevier, Stanford University). His achievements have been recognised by numerous international awards, university prizes and fellowships. As a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), he serves in advisory roles to governments, industry and professional bodies, contributing to the development of building codes and design guidelines globally. He is the Australian National Delegate to the International Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) and chairs the Global Network for Geotechnical Seismic Isolation (GSI).
