Biography

John-Luke is a graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music where he studied musical performance, specialising in trumpet and cornet under the tutorage of Richard Marshall and Roger Webster. Since then, he has worked professionally as a session musician across the UK performing in a range of music settings from brass bands to orchestras, and big bands. After overcoming significant embouchure difficulties whilst studying at the conservatoire, John-Luke became passionate about brass pedagogy and performance psychology. In addition to his work as a musician, John-Luke also holds an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is an accredited therapist with the NCPS.

On campus, John-Luke directs many of the ensembles at the university and helps to facilitate a range of performances across the year including graduations, carol service and a weekly recital/lecture series.
