Biography
Dr Ludovic Magerand is an early career lecturer within the area of Computer Science. His research interest lies in 3D vision, i.e. extracting 3D information from images or related sensors, particularly in challenging condition, including dynamic and deformable environments. Application of 3D vision for health purpose is currently his main line of work, and he is part of the Computer Vision and Image Processing research group. On the teaching side of things, he is mostly involved into delivering modules related to operating systems, networks, and Artificial Intelligence.
Since arriving at the university in 2019, Ludovic has worked on 3Dlocalization and depth estimation for autonomous robot navigation in colonoscopy as part of the SoftEn project. This research was presented at a MICCAI workshop in 2022. Later he started his own project, 3DFace@Home, to address facial 3D reconstruction from images acquired with a mobile application for facial growth monitoring in dentistry. At the moment, he is the main supervisor of 1 PhD student and second supervisor of 2. One PhD student graduated with him as second supervisor.
