Biography
Yang has been a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance within the Accounting & Finance discipline at the School of Business since 2020. He is the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Finance (BFin) and Bachelor of International Finance (BIFin) undergraduate programmes. Yang also serves as the Open Research Lead for the School of Business.
He completed his PhD in Accounting and Finance at Bangor University in 2018, a Master’s degree in Financial Analysis and Fund Management with Distinction at the University of Exeter in 2014, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with First Class Honours at Edinburgh Napier University in 2013. Yang is a member of CPA Australia.
Yang’s current research interests include financial fraud, corporate governance, corporate finance, green finance, and corporate social responsibility. His research has been published in many internationally recognised journals, such as The British Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Accounting Forum, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Journal of Finance and Economics, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Business Research and Business Strategy and the Environment, among others.
Yang currently serves as an executive committee member of both the Scottish British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Regional Group and the Interdisciplinary Perspectives Special Interest Group (IPSIG) of BAFA. He is also the appointed external advisor for the BAFA Financial Markets and Institutions Special Interest Group.
In addition, Yang acts as an ad hoc reviewer for several high-quality, internationally recognised journals, including The British Journal of Management (ABS 4*), Accounting Forum, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Accounting and Business Research, The British Accounting Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Business Research, among others.
