Scotland, with many countries worldwide, must adapt to changing water resources and flooding under a changing climate. Our researchers supported the development of policy and key indicators for monitoring adaption to climate change in Scotland. We:
- Reviewed and compared international climate adaptation strategies to guide the development of the first Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme (SCCAP).
- Developed the indicators used to assess Scotland’s adaptation responses to climate change, including critical issues of flooding and water resource quality and quantity.
- Made recommendations to the Scottish Government to improve the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of climate change adaptation.
- Developed a M&E framework for the second SCCAP and supported its implementation.
