Fundamentals of Transurethral Resection and Ureteroscopic Skills using Animal and Human Cadaveric Models

This is a one and a half day practical course, ideal for Urology Trainees who are already undertaking or about to start training in endoscopic urology

The emphasis during the course will be hands-on training mainly on restructured animal tissue models and also thiel embalmed human cadavers, whilst the relevant key clinical elements will be addressed by the experts in the subject areas. The course will be taught by Consultant Urologists. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, allowing easy exchange of ideas and experiences.

Programme

  • Discussion on anatomy, armamentarium and technique for ureteroscopy
  • Rehearse connecting up ureteroscopes and perform navigation of ureters and seeing stones
  • Stone extraction using baskets and stent insertion: how I do it
  • Rehearse ureteroscopy, stone extraction, and insertion of stent using synthetic bladder and ureter
  • Anatomy, equipment and technique for cystourethroscopy and familiarization with resectoscope for TURP and TURBT.
  • TURP / HOLEP / REZUM
  • Safe use of electrosurgery
  • Rehearse connecting up resectoscopes and perform resection skills of TURP
  • Perform TURP and TURBT
  • Rehearse ureteroscope and insertion of stent
  • Perform TURP
  • Discussion on results, common errors, and complications of ureteroscopy
  • Discussion on results, complications, common errors and treatment on TURP/TURBT
