Andreas Angeli

Andreas Angeli graduated from the University of Dundee with BSc Environmental Sustainability (2014) and MSc Design & Construction of Zero Carbon & Ultra-Low Energy Buildings (2015). He is a passionate social entrepreneur, dedicated to building a more sustainable and united future for Cyprus and beyond.

Yet, he wasn’t one of those kids with a well-defined dream.

He said, “Life, as I’ve come to understand it, has its own unique and often surprising plans for each of us. The paths we end up walking are often shaped more by experience and circumstance.”

A network for change

In 2017, Andreas founded Together Cyprus, a network which promotes environmental awareness and sustainability through various campaigns and programmes. Through Together Cyprus, Andreas has inspired and mobilised thousands of people and bridged the gap between communities to address environmental challenges, with hope and purpose.

From local roots to global reach

In addition, through his enterprise Omnia, Andreas drives innovative sustainability solutions that not only serve his homeland but resonate globally. Derived from the Latin word "omnia", meaning "all" or "everything", Omnia believe that every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger, transformative impact. Aligned with the objectives of the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals, at the heart of Omnia lies a profound commitment to motivate communities and collaborate with policy makers towards the green transition.

Dundee beginnings

However, without a doubt, Andreas’ most cherished project is the Barbecue, Baking, and Coffee Society that he co-founded during his time at the University. Andreas said, "It started as a simple idea, bringing people together over food and coffee, but it quickly turned into something much more meaningful. It became a community. That experience taught me the real power of grassroots action, and how joy, food, and a little kindness can make a real difference."

Business and Innovation Award

Andreas Angeli's transformative projects and creative approach to sustainability solutions recently won him the Business and Innovation Award at the National Study UK Alumni Awards in Cyprus.

Andreas has nonetheless faced a challenge or two along the way; from returning to Cyprus without a professional network, to navigating the early days of running NGOs and startups. By staying true to his values, leaning on the support of loved ones, and always remembering why he started, Andreas’ resilience carried him through.

Motivating him every day is the idea that we can leave the world a little better than we found it.

Harris Angeli

Harris, Andreas’ younger brother, followed in his footsteps and came to the University of Dundee in 2015 to study for a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and Renewables, where he was awarded with the Best Engineering student award in each year of his studies.

From a young age, Harris spent his time designing and creating mechanical parts for his various pet-projects and as he was fascinated with space, it was no secret that he wanted to broaden his horizons beyond this planet. Obtaining the title of the World’s Youngest Spacecrafts Operator in 2019, at the age of just 23, he is now a Satellite Controller at Hellas Sat, a satellite communications company.

Wind-E

In 2020, Harris became a finalist in Climate Launchpad - the world’s largest green technology competition - with his innovative product Wind-E, a portable wind turbine and clean tech product designed to revolutionise how we charge electronic devices. He developed it through his thesis project during his studies at Dundee.

“My degree gave me the flexibility to explore a wide range of engineering disciplines, which naturally encouraged me to think outside the box. Life in Dundee surpassed all expectations - it broadened my horizons, enriched me with international experiences and lasting friendships, and ultimately helped me unlock my full potential, opening doors I never imagined possible.”

Harris is now qualified to operate spacecraft models developed by leading aerospace manufacturers, including AIRBUS, Thales Alenia Space, and Lockheed Martin.

Recognised in Silicon Valley as one of the 20 Under 35 Future Entrepreneurs by the Society of Satellite Professionals International, he stands out as a visionary leader driving both technological innovation and societal progress.

As a Board Member of Together Cyprus and a jury member for Junior Achievement, Harris is deeply committed to tackling community and environmental challenges while mentoring the next generation of talent in business and technology.

Harris was also recognised by the British Council as both a national and global finalist in the Study UK Alumni Awards Science and Technology category in 2024.

High stakes, high pressure

Talking about some of the challenges he has faced along the way and how he has overcome them, Harris said “Being a satellite operator in a mission control room is as fascinating as it sounds, but it can be stressful. Can you imagine space investments worth more than $250 million at your command via a keyboard? I must always be confident with my actions and well prepared for any times of contingency, so I study hard to this day!”

Brothers who inspire

Although they didn’t study in Dundee at the same time, Harris and Andreas have since gone on to complete a master's in business administration in Cyprus together and are fierce supporters of each other's professional careers. They might work in different sectors, but they inspire and motivate each other every day, heading to the gym to share their goals, and mull over their ideas and challenges with one another.

What inspires the brothers? For Harris, it is the desire to leave something positive behind, to help others. Ideally, he would like to change the world, but if he doesn’t manage that, he’s happy that he can say he has catalysed positive change in his home country, Cyprus.

What's next for the Angeli brothers?

Harris is currently leading the development of 3Define, a 3D printing engineering venture based in Cyprus which aims to reduce waste, boost efficiency, and promote sustainability, ultimately transforming the country’s manufacturing sector. He was recently invited to the University of Cyprus to discuss collaboration opportunities – something he is very excited about. For Andreas, after eight years immersed in the professional ecosystem, he is focusing on projects that speak to his heart and give back to the community.

Harris shared his advice: “Stay committed and believe in yourself. Commitment fuels the motivation needed to pursue success. Embrace the journey, learn from it, and don’t forget to enjoy the process. If you work hard for your dreams, you’ll achieve what you truly deserve.”
