Dow Putter
This year’s Dow Putter Competition was won by Calum Sutherland who successfully defended the title after winning it for the first time in 2023

Calum, Professor of Molecular Medicine, has played in the Dow Putter competition for years, getting close to success as a single handicap golfer who enjoys his club golf at Muckhart Golf Club.
Calum played Stuart Gray of Sport and Active Health in the final at Downfield Golf Club winning on the final hole. Downfield kindly hosted our 2024 final, and gifted the prize of a voucher for a complimentary four-ball to the winner. Our appreciation goes to Downfield GC for these donations.
This year’s knockout competition attracted fifteen members of staff, and organisers Malcolm Taylor and Hazel Ednie are hoping to see more players return in the 2025 draw.
The competition - open to all staff and associate staff of the University of Dundee - will begin in April next year and new players can get in touch now to express their interest and be added to the circulation list. The competition is a great opportunity to meet new golfers and experience the diversity of wonderful courses around the area.
The Dow Putter was made in 1880 in Tom Morris’ workshop in St Andrews and donated to the University in 1967 by Professor Dow, Cox Professor of Anatomy.
