School of Medicine Senior Lecturer, Dr Shalini Gupta says ‘expert guidance’ from colleagues is the catalyst behind her recent award.

The University of Dundee Medical Education lecturer scooped the coveted ‘Best Presenter Award’ at last month's International Medical Education Conference (IMEC) 2024, in Malaysia.

Following the award, Dr Shalini Gupta said, “The work that I presented at IMEC is based on the data from my ongoing PhD in Health Professions Education here at Dundee.

“It was very heartening to have the audience engage with the research, which was evident from the questions and the rich discussions that we had post-presentation.

“I am very happy to receive the award, and it is a reflection of the expert guidance and support that I receive continually from my colleagues here.”

Dr Gupta’s presentation, ‘A Goffman’s Analysis of Learner Behaviour in the Clinical Learning Environment,’ is based on her research in work-based learning context, aiming to derive empirical insights and solutions to enhance medical students’ learning and overall experience during clinical placements.

This was the 17th annual IMEC conference, which is supported by IMU and is now the largest of its kind in the Southeast Asia region.
