Dundee School of Medicine Senior Lecturer, Dr Sourav Banerjee, has been named an Emerging Leader in the field of oncology by The British Journal of Cancer.

The ‘Emerging Leaders’ Special Collection at the British Journal of Cancer aims to recognise those in the earlier stages of their scientific careers who have already demonstrated themselves to be amongst the most outstanding clinicians, researchers and educators within the field.

Editorial board members were asked to nominate a top researcher, clinician or educator in oncology who completed their PhD/MD within the previous 10 years.

Dr Banerjee was nominated for the Emerging Leaders programme by Prof Russell Petty, Clinical Professor at the School and editorial board member of the British Journal of Cancer and submitted a special article for inclusion in the collection.

The original review article, ‘The abscopal effects of sonodynamic therapy in cancer,’ was published on 13 November 2024 in the British Journal of Cancer, Emerging Leaders collection.

The review article was spearheaded by Dr Victoria Collins, Honorary Clinical Fellow at NHS Tayside and co-supported admirably by Dr James Joseph, Senior Lecturer at the School of Science & Engineering.
