A total of 13 startup enterprises from the University community have been selected in the semi-finals of this year’s Converge Challenge. It is the University’s highest number of representatives at this stage of the national competition, which supports staff, students and graduates to transform academic research and innovation into real-world applications.

Brian McNicoll, Head of Entrepreneurship at the University, said, “This is a tremendous achievement for the University and further enhances our reputation as a leading incubator of Scotland’s newest entrepreneurial talent.

“The Converge Challenge is a hugely prestigious competition within Scotland’s business community. The achievement of Dundee students, staff and graduates to get this far is testament to their ambition and skill, and it has been a pleasure for everyone here at the University to support them on their entrepreneurial journey. We wish all of them luck for this next phase of the competition.”

Converge is Scotland’s leading entrepreneurial development programme for staff, students and recent graduates of Scottish universities and research institutes. The semi-finalists from Dundee will join others from across Scotland in a series of training events to help refine their submissions ahead of the next round of judging.

The University of Dundee has established an international reputation for its work in developing entrepreneurial talent from across its community. Last year, the University was crowned the UK’s Outstanding Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards, and also crowned Innovative & Entrepreneurial University of the Year in the European Triple E Awards.
