In the New Ideas category, Amna Waqas, a 1st year student at the School of Medicine, took the top spot with her innovative business idea, MedVault—a groundbreaking medical device designed to improve emergency treatment accessibility for individuals with severe allergies. Amna has won £1,000 to further develop her idea and has also secured a place in the final of our Venture competition next February.
A huge congratulations also goes to Emma Andrews, winner of the Enterprising Team Award with her business Emma Jen Creations, offering artworks and accessible art-based products inspired by the natural world. Emma has won an Advanced Insights Discovery profile to support her entrepreneurial journey.
Other notable awards on the night included Best Pitch, which was awarded to John Lim for Diabetik Diagnostik, a self-monitoring screening toilet block device aimed at assisting early diabetes detection. Amna Waqas also received recognition once more for her impressive pitch.
A massive well done to everyone who participated in the final, and congratulations again to Amna on her success!
