The University of Dundee's School of Business is honoured to announce that alumnus Gordon James Craig, a key figure in the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize-winning UN World Food Programme (WFP), is generously donating his Nobel Prize to the School.

Gordon, who graduated with a BA Administration in 1989, hopes his contribution will inspire future generations of students to pursue their dreams and make a meaningful impact on the world.

After starting in various roles for the UK National Audit Office, his passion for humanitarian work led him towards joining the UN World Food Programme in 1998. During his time with the WFP, he has held various senior positions. Gordon’s work has given him the opportunity to work across the globe, offering him unique insights into global cultures and humanitarian efforts.

In 2020, the UN World Food Programme was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to combat hunger, promote peace in conflict-affected areas, and prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war. Gordon was stationed in Kabul, contributing significantly to the organisation's mission to support the most vulnerable populations there.

Reflecting on his time at Dundee, Gordon said, "The four years I spent at the School of Business were integral to my personal and professional growth.

"I hope my donation will serve as an inspiration of what can be achieved with a business degree and inspire others to use their education to make a positive difference in the world."

By donating his Nobel Peace Prize to Dundee, Gordon aims to give back to the School of Business.

"If my contribution inspires even one student to devote their time and career to complete their degree and then bring their talents and energy to helping the most vulnerable in society, then my contribution will have been worthwhile,” he added.

This incredible gesture is a testament to the power of education and the University of Dundee's lasting impact on its graduates. Gordon’s donation will be displayed at the School of Business in the Carnegie Building, serving as a source of inspiration for current and future students.
