From hospitality to global business: my Dundee experience

Hello! I’m Gokul Raghunathan, currently studying MSc International Business at the School of Business, University of Dundee in Scotland. I completed my undergraduate degree in BSc Hotel and Hospitality Administration in India. Shifting from hospitality to business was a bold move, but this transition has truly opened up exciting pathways for my future.
I chose the School of Business because of its excellent academic reputation, global outlook, and friendly learning environment. One major factor that supported my decision was receiving the East Asian Scholarship, which made my tuition fees much more affordable and manageable.
The MSc International Business programme has helped me gain a strong foundation in global strategy, market analysis, and cross-cultural business practices. For students with a hospitality background, like myself, this course is a perfect bridge—it enhances people management, marketing, and service-related skills while preparing us to take on broader roles in international business, tourism management, and even entrepreneurship.
One of the best things about the School of Business is the practical, hands-on approach to teaching. Our classes involve real-world case studies, group projects, and open discussions that make learning engaging and relevant. The library is another fantastic resource, offering access to a wide range of academic and business materials.

Every week, the university organises business networking events, competitions, and career guidance programmes that help us build confidence, connect with professionals, and work toward our career goals.
To my friends back home who are considering studying abroad, I highly recommend the University of Dundee. This degree has not only expanded my knowledge but also helped me grow personally and professionally. If you're looking to take your skills global—this is the place to do it.
