New home for University spinout
A biotechnology company that has spun out from the University of Dundee has moved into new premises in the city
Published on 27 September 2024

Glen Clova Scientific is relocating to Dundee University Incubator, part of the Dundee Technopole site.
The move follows the first close of a seed funding round of up to £4 million to develop a new generation of Active Biologic Drugs based on leading research from the University.
Since the financing, the company has established a core team of 12 employees and will now refurbish and equip three new research and development laboratories in the Incubator. The suite of laboratories should be ready for occupation by the end of the year.
“We are delighted to be able to locate our new laboratories so closely to the University,” said Dr John Foerster, Co-Founder of Glen Clova Scientific. “This will enable GCS to continue to interact with University teams and facilities when required. It is also important to GCS to continue to participate the growing health and life sciences clusters in both Dundee and Scotland.”
“Glen Clova Scientific is exactly the kind of company we have in mind when partnering in the development of a Life Sciences Innovation District on the Technopole site,” added Dr David McBeth, the University’s Vice-Principal (Enterprise & Economic Transformation).
“We want to ensure that spinout and start-up companies from the University can retain the benefits of close links, yet still have room to grow independently and move from discovery through to commercialisation and clinical development.
"The Incubator is one important piece of the jigsaw on the Technopole site, while in early 2025 we will open our much larger Innovation Hub building. The Hub is a £40M investment that is mostly funded by the Scottish Government, through the Tay Cities Deal, Scottish Enterprise and the University itself, which will help us secure growth companies in the Dundee area and create hundreds of high value jobs for Dundee’s economy."
Glen Clova Scientific, founded in 2022, is a UK-based biopharmaceutical company formed to commercialise technology from the University of Dundee.
