Jenny Gilruth, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills has this afternoon confirmed to the Scottish Parliament that they will provide additional funding in principle to the University of up to £40million over two academic years or three financial years, to be delivered by the Scottish Funding Council.
Professor Nigel Seaton, Interim Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said, “We are extremely grateful to the Scottish Government and the Scottish Funding Council for their continuing support. This is invaluable in helping us reach a more sustainable position and will provide welcome reassurance to staff, students and our wider stakeholders.
“We will continue to engage with the Funding Council on a full recovery plan, and in pushing forward with our ongoing work to strengthen our management and governance.
“We do not take lightly the responsibilities which come with this level of additional public support. We have to be better as an institution than we have been and I am absolutely determined that we will be.”
