University welcomes Festo and industry partners for careers event

The University of Dundee's School of Science and Engineering recently hosted an exciting careers event during Welcome Week

The University of Dundee's School of Science and Engineering recently hosted an exciting Careers Event during Welcome Week, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders and learn about the future of automation and engineering. The highlight of the event was the arrival of Festo’s Technoferium Truck on campus, showcasing cutting-edge automation technology in action.

Festo, a global leader in automation, operates with 20,000 employees worldwide and generated a turnover of 3.81 billion euros last year. The company works across a variety of industries, including:

The visit from Festo provided students with a hands-on demonstration of how automation is transforming industries, giving them invaluable insight into real-world applications of their engineering studies.

Paul Jackson, a BSc (Hons) student in Mechanical Engineering with Renewables, stated, "this was a brilliant opportunity to see automation in real-world applications."

In addition to Festo’s presence, the event featured several of the University’s employer partners at the Queen Mother Building. This gave students the chance to connect with representatives from various companies, gaining crucial insights into what employers are looking for in job applications and early career professionals. The event emphasised the University’s commitment to preparing students for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
