My favourite study spaces

The University of Dundee offers a variety of study spaces across its campus, catering to different needs and preferences

Main Library and Law Library

The University of Dundee’s Main Library is a hub for students, with three distinct floors. The ground floor is designed for group study, with collaborative areas, presentation pods, and the Create Space – a perfect spot to unwind between study sessions. It also houses the café and IT and library support desks, where help with University PCs, printers or library queries is readily available. The first floor offers a quieter environment, with more bookshelves, group study spaces, and rooms. The top floor, recently refurbished, offers a silent study zone and holds many books and journals, including law-related resources. PCs and docking monitors are available for use across all floors, making it a well-rounded option for both collaborative and solo study.

Tower Café

The Tower Café on the 10th floor of the Tower Building is a hidden gem. Not only does it offer stunning views of Dundee, but it also offers a cosy spot to sip coffee while you study. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a favourite for students who want a peaceful yet vibrant space to focus.

Scrymgeour study space

If you are after a super quiet study space, the Scrymgeour study space is the place to be. Tucked away, it often feels like a hideaway due to its lower foot traffic. If you’re looking to escape the crowds and study in peace, this is the perfect spot.

Dalhousie Building

The rooms in the Dalhousie building offer versatile, informal study spaces. These rooms are available to students when not booked for classes, and you can easily check their availability using the QR codes found at each door. Many students, including myself, use these rooms to practice presentations, as we can connect our devices to the projectors allowing us to get the feel that we are presenting in front of a class.

The Liar Bar at DUSA

For those who prefer a more laid-back atmosphere, the Liar Bar in the Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) building is a fantastic choice. It is a great spot for a study date with friends, with a café and a relaxed environment.

Fulton Building

The common room in the Fulton Building is another quiet option where students from any course can study. It is less crowded, providing a peaceful environment conducive to focus and productivity.

With so many options, you are sure to find spaces that suit your study habits, whether you need solitude or a collaborative setting. The variety of study areas across campus ensures that students can find a place that fits their unique needs.
