Supporting employers to develop the skills of their workforce at no additional cost

Our fully funded Graduate Apprenticeship Programme gives employers the opportunity to develop current or new members of their workforce (of all ages) to honours degree level, whilst still working full time, and at no additional cost to their business.

Combining work-based learning and high quality education, Graduate Apprentices spend one day a week studying at the University and the remaining four days of the week working in their role.

This allows them to develop their knowledge and practical experience at the same time, creating well rounded, knowledgeable and experienced individuals.

“Graduate Apprentices always bring something to the business. Our apprentices are very smart individuals who have a can-do attitude and bring a fresh perspective. We had one who had a significant input into the set-up of our telecoms business from scratch. They do an incredible job.”

Douglas Reid, Managing Director and Graduate Apprenticeship Employer

What is a Graduate Apprenticeship?

  • Five courses are available covering Business, Engineering, and IT
  • Open to current or new employees of all ages
  • Participants spend one day per week on campus at the University and the remainder of the week working in their current role
  • Additional seven-nine hours of study required per week (on average), outside of contracted hours
  • At the end of four years, Graduate Apprentices can graduate with an honours degree
  • All Graduate Apprenticeship courses are designed around the needs of industry, ensuring that the content we teach is relevant to the needs of businesses within these areas
“Being in a class filled with like-minded people has given me the opportunity to discuss organisational differences and share systems and procedures that I can bring back to the workplace. The programme has given me the confidence to discuss with my colleagues how the systems and procedures that I am learning about at University can be incorporated into my day to day work.”
