The Human Anatomy MSc gives you advanced, hands on experience in anatomy through full body dissection of Thiel-embalmed cadavers. These cadavers maintain natural colour, flexibility and texture helping you build a deep understanding of the human anatomy, which is essential for careers in surgery, physiotherapy, medical education and research.

You will gain practical anatomical skills such as creating high quality historical slides, producing plastinated specimens and learning to use advanced embalming techniques.

You will also explore other areas, such as:

  • embryology and neuroanatomy
  • anatomical preservation methods
  • biomechanics
  • teaching and learning practices in anatomy

You will develop your ability to teach by designing digital learning materials for anatomy education. This is great preparation if you're interested in teaching or academic roles.

As part of the course, you will also carry out an original research project. Presenting your findings in both a seminar and a written dissertation guided by one of your expert anatomy staff members. This will enhance your research skills and allow you to explore areas that interest you the most.

You will also refine your scientific communication skills, learning to present complex ideas and evidence clearly, both in writing and through spoken presentations.

Graduates of the Human Anatomy MSc have gone on to roles such as:

  • Anatomy Tutor
  • Anatomical Lab Technician
  • Medical Doctor DMC
  • Pathologist Assistant

With expert support and small class size, you will learn in a focused, collaborative environment that helps you reach your professional goals in healthcare, teaching or research.
