Teaching

Our emphasis is on:

  • fostering communicative competence,
  • linguistic knowledge
  • intercultural awareness

Speaking in class is our main priority, but reading, listening and writing skills are also taught, using authentic audio and written materials, and online resources.

Assessment

Modules are accredited. The assessments focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

On successful completion of accredited language modules, you will be awarded a University of Dundee Modern Languages Certificate worth 20 credit points at SCQF Level 7 or above.

You can choose not to take the assessments, however you will not receive the credits and may instead be awarded a Certificate of Attendance, providing that you have attended a minimum of 80% of classes.
