Teaching and assessment for Introductory Mathematics for Higher Education
Teaching
This course is delivered entirely online and is designed for self-paced, independent study. All teaching materials are available through MyDundee, the University’s virtual learning platform. You’ll work through a series of clearly structured units that include:
- Written notes that explain key concepts step by step
- Short video explainers to guide you through examples
- Practice problem sets to build your skills and check your understanding
There are no live lectures or scheduled classes, so you can study at a time and pace that works for you. While the course is designed to be self-directed, support is available—tutors can be contacted by email if you have questions or need help with the material.
Assessment
You’ll be assessed through a single online exam, which tests your ability to apply the methods and ideas you’ve learned. The exam is offered four times a year, and you can choose the session that suits you best. You’ll sit the exam online, at home, using a secure platform provided by the University.
This flexible structure is designed to support learners from a wide range of backgrounds and help you succeed—whether you're returning to study, preparing for a degree, or gaining confidence in maths.
