Pre-sessional English for International Students - 8 weeks (online)
Designed to raise your English language ability, enhance your academic skills for university study, and help you adapt to university life in Scotland.

Our Pre-Sessional English courses help you to meet the English language entry requirements for your chosen course. If you pass the Pre-sessional course you can progress onto your full University of Dundee degree without having to take additional IELTS examinations.
Our courses are also designed to improve your academic English proficiency in a university context. The course will give you an understanding of the language of higher education and help you adapt to university life better than a standard English course.
We will also introduce you to British university life. This means you're less likely to experience culture shock, which often happens when people move to another country, and settle into university life much easier.
You will need to have a conditional offer for a course at the University of Dundee, which requires you to attend the 8 week pre-sessional course. No more than 0.5 overall IELTS band below course requirement and no skill below 0.5 IELTS band of course requirement.
The minimum age for enrolment on the Pre-sessional English course is 17. See our safeguarding information for students under 18.
Professional accreditation

Our English for International Students courses are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK
The Pre-sessional English course is conducted in a Scottish higher education context which considers students aged 17 as adults, therefore there is limited care and supervision outside of class time and scheduled leisure activities. The University is an adult environment, and students are with adults in class and University managed accommodation. There are significant periods of unsupervised time, and the expectation is that all students are independent, including those aged under 18. The University encourages all students to download the SafeZone app which students can use if they feel unsafe on and off campus, for example when travelling alone at night.
