Joint 2nd in Scotland for graduate prospects

Guardian University Guide 2025 / Times University Guide 2025

Dundee’s 2 year Graduate Entry LLB in English Law satisfies the academic component of training to become a barrister in England & Wales and is a recognised law degree for the purposes of admission to the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and qualification for the legal professions in Northern Ireland.

The 2 year LLB is popular with overseas graduates who wish to qualify as lawyers in common law jurisdictions globally. For example, each year Dundee graduates from Canada and Nigeria return home to complete their national legal practice qualifications. We maintain strong ties to the NCA and other common law regulatory bodies to ensure that our students know what steps to take to complete their national qualifications.

Dundee LLB graduates have gone onto secure training contracts and develop successful careers at home and abroad with leading law firms and top ranked Chambers. These include FreshfieldsLinklatersClifford ChanceShearman & SterlingCMSKingsley Napley as well as at leading Chambers including Essex Court Chambers and 1 GC Family Law.
Our English LLB graduates have also reached the highest levels of the judiciary, including at the Old Bailey and the European Court of Human Rights.

Dundee graduates have also used their law degrees, and the transferable skills they have acquired, to achieve success in many other fields, including rising to the highest levels of the Diplomatic Service.
