Mathematics is crucial in today's world. It supports advances in technology, science, and many other fields. From shaping innovations to making informed decisions, mathematics plays a key role.

Our Mathematics BSc (Hons) course is a four year degree during this time you will:

  • develop core skills in algebra, calculus and geometry
  • study advanced techniques such as numerical analysis, differential geometry, mathematical modelling
  • learn how to apply mathematics to real world problems
  • have opportunities to apply advanced mathematical techniques to cutting-edge research
  • learn the programming languages used by mathematicians across academia and industry

Our mathematics degree develops both pure and applied maths skills. You’ll learn how to become a logical numerate problem solver. You'll also learn how to use advanced mathematical software. Hence you will develop essential and sought after skills.

We focus on teaching both the theory and real-world applications of mathematics. Our goal is to give you the skills and confidence to become a logical numerate problem solver.

As a mathematics student at Dundee, you’ll join a close-knit and supportive community. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of the Dundee University Maths Society (DUMaS). DUMaS organise many fun events where like-minded students share ideas and socialise.
