Are you passionate about applying physics to tackle the global challenge of climate change?
Physics involves the exploration of nature in the broadest possible sense. Physicists discover how the universe behaves and use that knowledge for the benefit of humanity.
Our Physics with Renewable Energy Science MSci (Hons) course blends Bachelor’s and Master’s level physics classes. This means you can study more advanced areas of physics.
Throughout the course, you will gain experience in:
- electromagnetism and circuits
- space physics and astronomy
- light and matter
- thermal physics
- optics and photonics
- computational physics
Increased employability skills
This course will equip you with the skills needed to contribute to the rapidly growing field of renewable energy science.
In your final year, you’ll undertake an independent research project related to renewable energy. During your research project, you will develop skills in:
- analysis and critical thinking
- problem solving
- creativity and innovation
These are highly sought after skills in industry.
We are the only Scottish university taking part in the CMS Collaboration, a major experiment at the Large Hadron Collider CERN. Our students have had the opportunity to visit the site during their studies.
Passionate teaching
Our passion for physics is at the core of our teaching approach. From exploring astronomical phenomena to mastering quantum mechanics, you’ll receive a comprehensive education. Our dedicated staff make complex topics accessible and engaging. Our goal is to ensure that you develop a deep and lasting understanding of the subject. As you progress, you’ll learn to apply this knowledge directly to renewable energy science. This will prepare you to address one of the planet’s most pressing challenges—energy efficiency.
Student community
Our vibrant Physics Society fosters a strong, supportive student community. They organize regular social events, including trips:
- CERN
- Munich
- Amsterdam
These activities provide you with the opportunity to connect with peers from all year groups. Engaging with this active community enhances your university experience. You will build relationships that will support you throughout your studies and beyond.
