School of Business Careers Advisers 

University of Dundee School of Business has dedicated Careers Advisers, who work as part of the School to support you with your career planning and development.  Once you join us in Dundee, you have lifelong access to support from our Careers Service, including: 

  • CV and Cover Letter feedback
  • practice interviews to build confidence before you meet a prospective employer
  • 1-1 career guidance appointments to discuss and explore your options
  • careers education in your classes to explore labour market information and develop your skills
  • extra-curricular events programme, including visits to employers’ offices and Q&A panels with industry
  • access to graduate job opportunities; internships; work experience and part-time opportunities through our JobShop

Connecting with employers 

The School of Business Employer Engagement Officer provides dedicated support for the School.  This allows you to connect with employers and gain invaluable industry insights in lots of different ways, including: 

  • live employer-led projects and business challenges
  • industry speakers delivering guest lectures in your classes
  • networking events
  • Careers Fairs and pop-up employer events on campus

Internships and placements

Many of our courses include the option of an assessed internship or placement, giving you the chance to gain real work experience as part of your degree.  School of Business undergraduate students in certain courses have the option to take part in the Business Management Internship module, led by the Careers Service.  Students build work experience through a 30-hour internship as part of the module.  Classes are also provided throughout the semester to enhance students’ employability skills and improve their career planning.  

At postgraduate level, internship destinations range from local (within 1.5 hours of Dundee, to national (hybrid in London) to international (Bangkok).   Local internships are arranged by our Careers Service and the other options are arranged by our partner provider.  These 8-week opportunities allow School of Business students from certain postgraduate courses to build valuable skills and workplace experience to showcase to future employers.

Starting your own business  

If you have your own business idea and are looking for help to set it in motion, our Centre for Entrepreneurship is the perfect place. The Centre for Entrepreneurship is open to all University students. It supports your business ideas and helps to build your business skills and speed your success. It offers regular skills workshops, networking events and acceleration courses which can help you make your business idea a reality. They also offer advice and support throughout the whole process, from concept to fully fledged Business and beyond.
