Careers for Community Development & Youth Work (CLD) PGCert
All recent Community Development graduates have progressed into meaningful employment or on to further study. Graduates enter diverse roles that make a tangible difference both in Scotland and beyond:
Direct practice roles:
- Youth worker in community projects, schools, or specialised programs
- Adult learning coordinator (literacy, ESOL, digital skills)
- Community centre manager or programme coordinator
- Family learning and support worker
Advocacy and organising:
- Community organiser and social justice activist
- Integration worker supporting newcomers and refugees
- Policy researcher and campaign coordinator
Specialised areas of interest:
- Worker with groups who have particular experiences. These include:
- care leavers
- people with disabilities
- asylum seekers
- individuals in recovery
- formerly-incarcerated people
- Community health and wellbeing coordinator
- Environmental justice organiser
The honours degree is a professional qualification approved by the Community Learning and Development Standards Council. This means that this course is of enormous intellectual, practical and professional value.
