Contemporary restaurants, independent eateries, bars, and social spaces surround the University. 

International cuisines 🌍

For a relatively small city we have an immense range of different cuisines - from Indian, Chinese and Italian, to the less commonly found Japanese, Afro-Caribbean, Turkish, and Lebanese.

Vegetarian and vegan🌱

If you are vegetarian or vegan, you will find plenty of options for lunches, coffee and cake, and dinners.

Cafes ☕

Dundee also boasts a vibrant coffee culture with lots of chain and independent coffee shops. Whether you're a dedicated coffee connoisseur or just looking for a cosy place to unwind or catch up on your studies, you'll find a place that suits you.

If you're after more than just a caffeine fix, you'll find some coffee shops feature art exhibitions, live music, and poetry readings.

Budget bites 💸

There are plenty of affordable places to grab a bite to eat on and off campus as well as big-name bars and restaurants that offer student deals. 

Nightlife

Dundee has plenty happening in the evenings, and most nightlife is within a short walk of campus.

Bars and pubs 🍻

The bars and pubs of Perth Road and Westport (beside the University's City campus) are particularly popular with students. 

Some favourites include The Braes (right across the road from campus), Art Bar (opposite our art school), and the George Orwell (an old-school style pub with cosy interiors).

Live music 🎤

If live music is your thing then there are dedicated venues such as Beat Generator and Duck Slattery's, which also hosts regular party nights. There's also a thriving music scene in several local pubs where you can catch a band or attend an open mic night.

DJs and club nights 🎧

There are plenty of nightclubs in Dundee, including events on-campus at our Students' Union. Don't miss events run by DEMS - Dundee Electronic Music Society. They regularly put on events, including a mini festival, DEMSFEST.

Cinemas 📽️

There are three cinemas spread across the city. Cineworld and Odeon show all the latest big-budget releases, while DCA cinema (just a couple of minutes' walk from campus) screens an eclectic mix of popular and independent films.

On campus 📍

Of course, many students choose to stay on campus and go out to the Students' Union where you'll find a diverse range of events, live music, and themed parties. Current faves include Sip Happens - a weekly pub quiz in our on-campus Liar Bar.
