Vision and mission
Our goal is to help foster the richer, interconnected scholarship the world needs to address global challenges and achieve sustainable development.
Launched in November 2022, the University’s Africa Initiative sees partners work together in research, education and engagement, to enrich lives both in Scotland and Africa.
Social purpose drives the Africa Initiative, in line with the University’s mission to make a difference and transform lives locally, nationally and globally.
Already the University has established partnerships in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi and Nigeria, building on long-term strengths and tackling head-on the inequality that has characterised the global science and research ecosystems.
Our approach
Equitable partnership defines our approach. In collaboration with African institutions as our equal partners, we are co-creating a new agenda for excellence in research, education and engagement. Together we are co-designing and delivering programmes to meet all of our needs, particularly those most disadvantaged.
