Africa initiative - equity and inclusion

Showcasing our work on the research theme of equity and inclusion as part of the Africa Initiative.

The African Union Agenda 2063 sets out a bold vision for African development that is people driven, recognising that women, girls and young people require explicit attention and empowerment.

The University of Dundee is leading in widening access. Through contextualised admissions, intensive work with community partners and innovative schemes, we work to ensure that all talented students, regardless of background, can access Scotland's University of the Year (Higher Education Awards 2023). Now we want to share this ethos globally.

Our social purpose supports new ways of co-delivering inclusion and impact – with people’s participation, equitable partnership, and empowerment at the heart of the Blantyre Declaration.

The equity and inclusion research theme brings together strengths in terms of understanding the social and ethnographic issues around tackling violence and discrimination against women and girls, education, upskilling and youth empowerment.
