During a 4-to-6-months research or work placement distributed across semesters 1 and 2, you are given the opportunity to work directly with academic members of staff from Psychology (research placement) or with people with mental health needs and non-clinical practitioners in community settings (work placement).

During your research dissertation, you will receive regular guidance from your supervisor in one-to-one or small group meetings.

Module code: PY50003 Credits: 20 Semester: Both Semester 1 and 2

This module allows you to undertake a practicum and gain workplace experience in psychology under supervision. You will learn to apply your understanding of psychology to practical issues in a workplace, reflect on your professional strengths, weaknesses and values, as well as gain transferrable skills.

Module code: GM51072 Credits: 20 Semester: Semester 1

In this module, you'll get an overview of some of the main topics in contemporary neuroscience. This will start with the physiology of neurons and synapses. You'll then learn about systems-level topics such as sensation and movement.

You'll also explore some of the key research techniques used in neuroscience.
