Placements for Applied Educational Psychology DAppEdPsy
Placements will be spread across the whole of the Scottish mainland with a combination of rural and urban Educational Psychological Services (EPS). Successful applicants will be informed of their placements when in receipt of an offer of a place on the programme. Trainees will gain experience on placement in two Psychological Services during the programme.
- Year one - Trainees will have a placement in year one which will be two days per week during university modules and five days a week during block placements. There are also several block placements of two-five weeks’ duration.
- Year two – Trainees will move to a different placement which will be two days per week during university modules and five days a week during block placements. There are also several block placements of two-five weeks’ duration.
- Year three – Trainees will stay in the same placement as year two. which will be four days per week.
Placements will be arranged and allocated by the University, in partnership with the Association of Scottish Principal Educational Psychologists (ASPEP) the Scottish Division of Educational Psychology (SDEP). Placement arrangements depend on Local Authorities capacity to facilitate a Trainee and will involve travelling, which the Trainee will be responsible for organising. For those placements in a rural location, it is expected that Trainees will organise self-travel and have alternatives to public transport routes where required. Ideally applicants should have a full driving licence or access to a car and driver.
Trainees are required to follow the local authority service delivery model whilst on placement.
