The University of Dundee is part of the BUCS UNIversal Gym Scheme

What is the BUCS UNIversal Gym Scheme?

UNIversal Gym opens the doors to multiple gyms around the country. Meaning you can work out wherever in the United Kingdom you are, helping staff and students stay active all year round.  

This means if you have a staff or student Sport and Exercise membership at the University of Dundee (Sport and Active Health), you will have access to many more gyms around the country at no extra cost. 

So, when you are exploring the country with friends or visiting back home, you can access other university gyms near you to keep you active.  

We also welcome UNIversal Gym members from other institutions taking part in the scheme to our facility.

How to join BUCS UNIversal (UoD students and staff)

  • Sport and Active Health members with a Sport and Exercise student or staff membership are eligible to be a BUCS UNIversal Gym member
  • Download the BUCS Play app (from the App Store or Google Play) and register to get started
  • Join the University of Dundee – UNIversal Gym community
  • Apply for a UNIversal Gym Membership
  • A member of our team will check your membership status and approve your BUCS UNIversal membership – this will usually take no more than two working days
  • View other participating institutions (please note that all institutions have the right to pull out of the scheme at any time)
  • Join the community for the institution whose facilities you wish to access, book an available session and view their terms and conditions of use (we do not have any control over another institutions' rules)
  • Present your booking confirmation (email or in-app) when visiting the participating institution's facilities

Before visiting, please read our terms and conditions and rules and regulations

  • You must request your BUCS UNIversal Gym Membership from your own institution's UNIversal Gym community; please do not request this from the University of Dundee through our community as we cannot approve your request
  • Once your UNIversal Gym Membership has been approved, join the University of Dundee – UNIversal Gym community
  • Select the Gym session option
  • Select the day you wish to book. Please note that booking opens 3 days in advance
  • Please report to the main reception on arrival. Please show your booking confirmation email and student ID from your home institution
