You will build and develop skills relating to planning, undertaking, and communicating research

You will explore core concepts in social science. This will allow you to understand their contribution to knowledge of the social world. You will also get a broader context in which they were developed.

We then consider how social science concepts can be applied to address contemporary social challenges.

Learn more about using core method for analysing quantitative social data. This will allow you to build and develop your abilities and confidence

You will gain an advanced level of knowledge of a range of analytic qualitative research methods.

You will assess the appropriateness of different qualitative methods for your own research project. This will allow you to develop the skills to design and conduct qualitative research of your own.

This module provides an opportunity to put research skills into practice, doing a short research project on a 'real world' issue identified by an external organisation

GIS are powerful tools for managing, integrating, and analysing geospatial data based on location. As such, they have value within multiple problem-solving situations.

You will learn some basics of applied geospatial analysis using GIS. You will also learn about major open geospatial developments, linking in particular to the UN SDGs.

The module is designed to enable you to develop an advanced understanding of global and regional climate change and to provide an objective and balanced understanding of the key terms and concepts associated with the development of the climate change debate as it has evolved over the last half-century.

This module will provide an understanding of statistical analyses used in psychological research. Quantitative statistics methods will be explained on a high conceptual level, aiming for students to see links between various analyses.
